My Story
As an undiagnosed sufferer of ADHD dyslexia and dyspraxia, I wondered why my life appeared to be harder than that of most of my family, friends, and peers. Although I managed to muddle through everyday life, some aspects, usually my relationships, suffered and my aspiration to embark on further education had to be put on hold.
Diagnosis
My mid-life diagnosis of Dyspraxia, which was followed by diagnoses of Dyslexia and ADHD, explained why practically everything I did seemed to require a disproportionate amount of time and effort. The relief I gleaned from my diagnoses and its subsequent confirmation that I had not been gaslighting myself, was negated by the realisation that as there was no cure I would still have to figure out ways to cope with my neurodiversity.
EFT Discovery
I could never have imagined that a voucher for a Reiki Healing session I was gifted would be the key to unlocking my ability to focus on learning. Reiki, which was my first experience with holistic therapies, not only helped ease my anxiety it opened my mind to exploring other therapies as well as becoming a practitioner.
Coincidentally, like Reiki, EFT ‘came to me’. I had booked a reflexology session but after a discussion with the therapist, I opted to try Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), which I had not even heard of before that session. I cannot stress how grateful I am to have been introduced to it. I have been using EFT as a coping tool ever since. Hence, I have less trouble focusing, concentrating, and applying myself to studying. Consequently, I have completed a BA, BSc, and holistic therapy certificates.
There are other coping tools, I have tried many of them and found most of them beneficial. However, I have found EFT to be the easiest and fastest working. Hence, I use it to treat virtually every issue I encounter, such as fatigue, aches, and pains, etc.
